Classic, classic Oak Bay. For many, there is nowhere else to live in Victoria. Leafy winding streets where you may be without a sidewalk can often make you feel like you’re in another era. Oak Bay is certainly one of Victoria’s great established neighbourhoods with top-level schools, loads of waterfront and easy access to marinas and boating.
You will find homes in styles of Tudor Revival, Art Deco, Arts and Crafts and more throughout the tree-lined neighbourhoods. Oak Bay is primarily a single-family residential area with few condo and strata developments, but many new, modern-style homes have been built here in recent years as some homes are torn down.
In Uplands you will find prestigious homes on large lots, many hidden from street view up long, winding driveways. The price point, as well as some of the water views, can be limitless here.
It is a bit of a walk from Oak Bay to Downtown, but you can certainly get there by bike — or Austin Healey. However, there is so much goodness in the neighbourhoods and villages of this quaint area that you really won’t find much reason to leave.
